What We Stand For
Our Mission & Values
We believe that sustainability and profitability go hand in hand. Here's what drives everything we do.
Our Mission
“To extend the life of every pallet, reduce waste in every community we serve, and prove that the most sustainable choice can also be the smartest business decision.”
Core Values
The Principles That Guide Us
Sustainability First
Every decision starts with the question: is this the most sustainable option? We prioritize reuse over disposal, repair over replacement, and recycling over waste.
Quality Without Compromise
Recycled doesn't mean inferior. Every pallet we sell is inspected, graded, and guaranteed to meet or exceed industry standards for its rated grade.
Transparency
We believe in honest grading, straightforward pricing, and clear communication. No surprises, no hidden fees, no misleading quality claims.
Community Impact
We create local jobs, support regional businesses with affordable pallets, and keep tons of wood out of local landfills. Our success is the community's success.
Innovation
From our carbon calculator to our pallet management programs, we constantly seek smarter, more efficient ways to serve our customers and reduce waste.
Circular Economy
We don't just recycle pallets — we champion a circular economy where materials flow in continuous loops, never ending up as waste. Zero-waste is our north star.
Our Promise
Environmental Commitment
We pledge to continuously increase our landfill diversion rate, reduce our carbon footprint, and help every customer we serve make more sustainable choices. We track our environmental impact and share it transparently.

How We Live Our Values
Values on a page mean nothing without action. Here's how our principles show up in our daily operations.
Every Pallet Gets a Second Look
Before any pallet enters our recycling stream, it's assessed for repair potential. If it can be fixed, it is. This "repair first" approach saves thousands of pallets from unnecessary grinding every year.
Transparent Pricing, Always
We don't play pricing games. Our quotes include all costs — no hidden fees for delivery, sorting, or handling. The price we quote is the price you pay, every time.
Chemical-Free Heat Treatment
We chose heat treatment over methyl bromide fumigation specifically because it uses zero chemicals. It costs us more to operate kilns, but it aligns with our environmental commitment.
Community Employment
We hire locally and invest in training. Many of our team members started with no pallet industry experience and have grown into skilled technicians. We believe in building careers, not just filling positions.
Customer Education
We don't just sell pallets — we educate customers on how to optimize their pallet lifecycle. Our blog, size guide, and consultation services help businesses make informed decisions.
Waste Tracking and Reporting
We meticulously track what happens to every pallet that enters our facility. This data feeds our sustainability reports and helps our customers demonstrate their own environmental responsibility.
Looking Ahead
Environmental Targets 2026–2030
We've set ambitious but achievable environmental goals for the next five years. These targets hold us accountable and give our customers confidence that we're continuously pushing toward a more sustainable future.
80%
Waste Diversion by 2027
We aim to divert 80% of all incoming material from landfills through repair, reuse, recycling, and biomass conversion. Currently at 98% for pallets specifically, this target extends to all operational waste including packaging, office materials, and equipment.
2M
Pallets Recycled by 2030
Building on our one-million pallet milestone, we're targeting two million total pallets recycled by 2030. This will require expanding our processing capacity, growing our customer base, and deepening partnerships with regional businesses across Northern California.
2029
Carbon Neutral Operations
By 2029, we plan to achieve carbon-neutral status across all operations. This includes transitioning our fleet to low-emission vehicles, installing solar panels at our facility, purchasing verified carbon offsets for remaining emissions, and optimizing delivery routes to reduce fuel consumption.
2028
Zero Landfill Contributions
Our most aggressive target: by 2028, absolutely nothing from our facility will end up in a landfill. Every scrap of wood, metal, plastic, and cardboard will be recycled, repurposed, or converted to energy. We're investing in advanced sorting technology to make this a reality.
Supply Chain
Partner Standards
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our own facility. We hold our suppliers, vendors, and partners to the same high standards we set for ourselves.
Sustainable Sourcing
We require all wood and lumber suppliers to demonstrate responsible sourcing practices. This means verified chain-of-custody documentation, preference for reclaimed or salvaged wood, and a commitment to avoiding old-growth or illegally harvested timber. We audit our supply chain annually and prioritize partners who share our dedication to forest conservation and responsible resource management.
Ethical Labor Practices
Every vendor and subcontractor we work with must adhere to fair labor standards. This includes paying living wages, providing safe working conditions, prohibiting child labor, and respecting workers' rights to organize. We conduct periodic reviews of our partners' labor practices and will not maintain relationships with organizations that fail to meet these fundamental ethical requirements.
Quality Materials
Whether it's replacement lumber for repairs, fasteners for assembly, or packaging materials for shipping, we insist on quality from every supplier. Substandard materials lead to substandard pallets, and substandard pallets end up in landfills sooner. By demanding quality at every input stage, we ensure that the pallets leaving our facility will last as long as physically possible, maximizing their lifecycle and minimizing waste.
Environmental Compliance
All partners must comply with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations — and we encourage them to go beyond mere compliance. We prefer working with vendors who have their own sustainability initiatives, whether that's waste reduction programs, emissions reduction targets, or investments in renewable energy. Together, we can create a supply chain that lifts the entire industry toward more responsible practices.
Giving Back
Community Partnerships
Our mission extends beyond our facility. We actively partner with organizations that share our commitment to sustainability and community development.
Local School Programs
We host field trips for Sacramento-area schools to teach students about recycling, the circular economy, and careers in sustainability. Over 400 students have visited our facility through this program.
Habitat for Humanity
We donate repurposed pallet lumber to local Habitat for Humanity chapters for use in affordable housing construction projects. Wood that cannot serve as pallet lumber often works perfectly for framing, fencing, and landscaping.
Community Clean-Up Days
Twice a year, our team volunteers for neighborhood clean-up events in the North Highlands and Sacramento areas. We provide trucks and labor to help clear illegally dumped pallets and wood debris from vacant lots and roadsides.
Zero-Waste Business Mentoring
We consult pro bono with small businesses in the region that want to reduce their waste output. Sharing what we have learned about waste diversion helps other companies start their own sustainability journeys.
Sacramento Food Bank
We provide free pallet services to the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services during peak donation seasons. Their distribution operation depends on pallets, and we ensure supply is never a barrier to feeding families in need.
Veteran Employment Initiative
We actively recruit and train military veterans transitioning to civilian careers. The discipline, teamwork, and work ethic that veterans bring align perfectly with our operational culture. Over 20% of our team are veterans.

How We Calculate Impact
Our environmental metrics are based on industry-standard conversion factors. Each recycled pallet saves approximately 0.06 trees, diverts 22 kg of waste from landfills, and avoids 28 kg of CO₂ emissions compared to manufacturing a new pallet from virgin lumber. These figures are derived from USDA Forest Service data and National Wooden Pallet and Container Association lifecycle studies.
We track every pallet that enters and leaves our facility — incoming pickups, repairs completed, pallets sold, and materials sent to secondary recycling. This detailed tracking allows us to provide customers with accurate sustainability reporting for their own ESG and environmental compliance needs.
Our Pledge
A Personal Commitment From Our Team
As the team behind Sacramento Pallet Co., we pledge to treat every pallet as a resource worth saving, every customer as a partner worth serving with honesty, and every day as an opportunity to reduce waste in our community. Sustainability is not a marketing message for us — it is the foundation of every decision we make, from the materials we source to the routes our trucks drive.
We commit to continuous improvement: learning new techniques, adopting cleaner technologies, and challenging ourselves to find uses for materials that others would discard. We hold each other accountable to these standards, and we welcome our customers and community to hold us accountable as well.
When you work with Sacramento Pallet Co., you're not just buying pallets — you're supporting a team that genuinely believes business can be a force for environmental good. We pledge to earn that trust every single day, with every pallet we touch, every delivery we make, and every relationship we build.
